Michelle and Chris

Wedding number one for 2010 was for Michelle and Chris, who were referred to me through Kieron Nolan Photography - Kieron was booked that weekend, which meant I had the privilege of sharing Michelle and Chris' day with them.

It was a really beautiful day - an outdoor ceremony at Maximillian's Winery, a very relaxed time with the bridal party (including a stop at the German Arms at Hahndorf so they could all enjoy a well-earned drink) and then back to Max's for the reception. I've not been to many weddings that were this heart-felt, and it was really special to get to be a part of it.

Sue, Rob and the Tribe

Sue contacted me in mid-December to book a photo-shoot for January. As a present for her husband Rob, she wanted shots of the pair of them, their kids and grandkids. This proved to be no small task, since the family is spread far and wide, but they were all together in a holiday shack for new year.

I made the trip down to see them and take some shots, and though they were only a stone's throw from the beach, the day turned out to be wet. Very wet. Like, 'kill your camera and all your lights' wet, so we had to improvise and shoot inside the house. The layout was interesting, and the atmosphere was warm, so a couple of portable flash units brought the whole thing to life.

Mark, Chelsea and the Kids

The second of the free shoots that I did around Christmas '09 was with Mark and Chelsea, and their 1.8 children. (The .8 is now a healthy baby boy, but at the time was just a sizable bump!)

Working with them and their daughter was good really enjoyable, though it got a little expensive when one of my lightstands blew over in the wind, and a diffuser umbrella died a sudden death... Still and all, a fun evening, and we all lost track of time to the point where we almost got locked in the car-park!

Darren, Verity and Family

At the end of last year I offered a couple of free photo-shoots around Christmas, and Verity contacted me to take me up on the offer. I met her, her husband Darren and their three kids at Sellicks Beach for some photos leading into sunset!

It was a chilly evening, which made things a little difficult for the kids, but they soldiered on well, and I reckon the results were worth it.

Drop me an email at chris(a)outofthestudio.net if you'd like to book a shoot for your own family.
